Opening Doors, Transforming Lives...One Student at a Time

Cassata High School is proud to announce the launch of its three-year, $1.5 million capital campaign, “Opening Doors and Transforming Lives...One Student at a Time.” This campaign will allow Cassata to fulfill its mission by embarking on a substantial campus renovation plan.

THE NEED
Originally built as Laneri College in 1921, Cassata has been through years of wear and tear, patchwork and renovation. It is now time for Cassata to ensure the continued positive impact of this campus for future students and the community.

Over the years, many structural issues have come to light. Cassata’s building has settled the point of changing drainage patterns. During heavy rains, water flows into the basement, resulting in flooding, damage to floors and to exterior and interior walls. An aging roof has caused damage to walls and ceiling tiles. Cassata began some of these repairs during the summer.

In addition, the need for an elevator to place our lift is long overdue, and the replacement of aged heating and air conditioning units and windows will enable Cassata to be environmentally friendly and to operate with cost efficiency.

Threadbare carpeting needs to be replaced, and cracks in the floors and walls must be repaired.

In addition, updating technology in the classrooms as well as throughout the whole building will provide a more up-to-date, customized curriculum for students who are learning at their own pace, and will allow teachers to maximize valuable one-on-one time with students.

SUMMER IMPROVEMENTS
Students and teachers noticed after returning from summer break that some of Cassata’s renovation work has already been completed. Workers spent the summer months pumping in expanding foam under Cassata’s foundation to level the building.  They also repaired outside drainage lines to ensure that water no longer flows into the basement during heavy rains. In addition, workers applied special sealants to cracks in the basement wall to keep water from seeping in.

MUCH WORK AHEAD
Cassata is thankful for the hard work put in this summer to get foundation work and drainage issues resolved before students came back to school on August 13th.

However, there is much work left to do and we need your help!

We invite you to join us on this exciting journey to ensure the promise of a brighter future for our students. Please consider making a capital gift to Cassata High School.

The commitment you make today will stand as a testament of your commitment to Cassata’s mission and service to youth and to the community.
